Alicja Kwade in conversation with Julie Rodrigues Widholm

Sunday, Feb. 28 | 4 PM

EXPO CHICAGO is pleased to present Alicja Kwade |  KÖNIG GALERIE in conversation with Julie Rodrigues Widholm | DePaul Art Museum as part of /Dialogues, a year-round program of discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Kwade lives and works in Berlin. Her work manipulates mental perceptions and physical experiences of how the body inhabits space and time. Kwade frequently uses imperfect doubling, mirror images, and repetition in her practice. Her common materials include items found in everyday life—such as coins, metal pipes, mirrors, glass, lights, and bicycles—that she distorts to create sensory illusions. Her work has been exhibited at the Kunsthalle Nürnberg, Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt, Haus am Waldsee in Berlin, as well as Kunsthalle Mannheim.

Kwade will be in conversation with Rodrigues Widholm, Director of the DePaul Art Museum. Widholm was previously Curator at the Museum of Contemporary of Chicago, where she curated over fifty exhibitions since 1999, including solo exhibitions by Amalia Pica, Doris Salcedo, and most recently Kathryn Andrews, currently on view at the MCA.

The conversation will take place at DePaul Art Museum | 935 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60614. Free and open to the public.

Presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), /Dialogues offers panel discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse with leading artists, curators, designers and arts professionals on the current issues that engage them.
