Becoming Joaquin is a one-woman play written and performed by Janis Astor del Valle. She portrays the title charcter, his family members and girlfriend who are in therapy, struggling to accept his identity as a transgendered Latino.

Directed by Carolyn Kirsch.

Janis is a Latina lesbian writer/performer/filmmaker whose work is published in five anthologies, including Puro Teatro and Action: The Nuyorican Poets Cafe Theater Festival. She wrote another one-woman play, Trans Plantations. Currently Janis is the Executive Director of Youth Rights Media.
