One day this kid will get larger Screening: Long Term Survivors
FEBRUARY 11 | 3:00 PM
Join event moderator Charles Ryan Long for talks, discussion, and a video program exploring the intersections of HIV/AIDS, family, and aging featuring video by Katja Heinemann and Naomi Schegloff, and presentations by historian, author, and curator Jennifer Brier and artist Oli Rodriguez. Following a screening of short video-excerpts from Katja Heinemann and Naomi Schegloff’s “Graying of AIDS” multimedia oral history project, Jennifer Brier will present on her collaborative and ongoing project “I’m Still Surviving,” which explores the lives of 14 women in Chicago, many of whom are mothers, who have been living with HIV for, in some cases, over three decades. Oli Rodriguez will also present on his interdisciplinary artwork “The Papi Project,” for which the artist has combined found family photographs, images of cruising grounds, and emails between the artist and men who may have known his father, who died of AIDS-related illness in 1993.
