Symposium: The Future of Museums

Thursday, June 7. 6-8pm.

Faculty, students, and interested members of the public are warmly invited to attend “The Future of the Museum,” a symposium presented by graduate students in DePaul University’s New Media Studies 509 (“Digital Museums and Archives”) at the DePaul Art Museum, 935 West Fullerton, from 6-8 pm June 7th, with a reception following. Beginning with an examination of the digital archive as a central and rapidly changing institution within museums, presentations will include panels on expanding databases/ enlarging audience; shifting the politics of representation; participation in and among new interfaces; accessibility in nontraditional and emerging art genres; and problematics of artists and the digital divide. The event is sponsored by the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, & Discourse at DePaul University.
