SATURDAY OCTOBER 5, 9 a.m – 4:30 p.m.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 6, 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

“We’re all more interesting than most pictures, but how do you get a picture that feels like it’s looking right back at you?” –Paul D’Amato

Communicating even a fraction of a person’s character is one of photography’s most vexing challenges. Join Paul D’Amato for a two-day intensive workshop designed to hone skills in making photographic portraits. Through lectures, discussions, and shooting assignments, students will study the place of portraiture in contemporary photographic practice and acquire the technical and conceptual grounding to make portraits that are both genuine and aesthetically engaging.

*Students should bring a portfolio of up to 15 examples of their work for review. Each student will receive personalized feedback and suggestions for improvement

*All participants must bring their own digital camera. Work produced during the workshop will be reviewed digitally to allow ample time to complete assignment and review it.

Tuition: $150 ($120 for DPAM members; $135 for current DePaul University students); includes lunch on Saturday.

Enrollment is capped at 12 in order to provide more personalized attention.
