Out of Easy Reach

April 26 – August 5

/ 2018

This exhibition investigates the use of abstraction by female-identifying artists from the Black and Latina Diasporas. “Out of Easy Reach” proposes that there are myriad ways artists are employing abstraction as a tool to explore histories both personal and universal, with a focus in mapping, migration, archives, landscape, vernacular culture, language, and the body. The exhibition, guest-curated by independent curator Allison Glenn, will concurrently take place at DPAM, Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois Chicago, and Stony Island Arts Bank.
